Hofner Colorama 1

Model 163V in rood vinyl afwerking

Unieke gitaar in volledig originele toestand. Prachtige  "slangenleer textuur" vinyl afwerking met witte rubberen stootrand.  De afwerking van deze gitaar is in bijzonder goede toestand!

Ook is dit instrument voorzien van een tremolo, en wel van het type wat zelden te zien is op de Colorama's, maar vaker wordt aangetroffen op de Galaxy modellen.

Qua electronica is deze voorzien van een enkelspoels  Hofner "Super-Response type 510" pickup. En wel van het type met afstelbare schroefpooltjes.

Ook heeft deze een rechthoekig pearloyd plaatje met een "Rhythm/Solo" switch, een "Bass On" Switch, en een "Treble On" switch. Voorts is het plaatje voorzien van een volumeknop in het bekende theekopmodel.

De volumepotmeter heeft een datumcode, en die is 293. Deze potmeter is dus geproduceerd in de 29e week van 1963. De gitaar kan dus zeker niet eerder afgemaakt zijn dan eind september 1963.

Daarintegen zien we bij de colorama modellen ook dat het rechthoekige pearloyd electronicaplaatje later in 1963  wordt vervangen door electronica die rechtstreeks in de slagplaat is gemonteerd. Ook wordt het logo in de loop van 1963 anders en verandert daarbij in een opstaand verzilverd wit kunststof logo. Dat heeft deze nog niet.

In 1964 verandert bovendien de bodyvorm van de Colorama in een asymmetrische vorm, waardoor we dit bouwjaar kunnen uitsluiten.

Een heerlijk sobere vintage gitaar in bijzonder goede staat, en met erg veel porum!

Unique guitar in completely original state. Beautifull "snakeskin texture" vinyl finish with a white rubber bumper.

This instrument is also equiped with a tremolo, and of a type we have seldom seen on a Colorama, but can be found more often on the Hofner Galaxy models.

The pickup is of the single coil Hofner "Super-Response type 510" And furthermore of the type with adjustable screwpoles.

The electronics are mounted on a familiar rectangular pearloyd plate, with a  "Rhythm/Solo" switch, a "Bass On" Switch, and a "Treble On" switch. Furthermore there is a volumeknob in the well known "theacup" style.

The electronics look fully original, and the volume pot dates the 29th week of 1963.

But later in 1963 (and most of the Colorama production for that year) it seems that most have the electronics mounted directly in the pickguard. Also the logo is changed from a printed black/gold type, to a silvered plastic type, both of which this guitar does not have. Which makes it very unique indeed!

All in all this is a very nice vintage guitar in very good condition, and packing lots of mojo!
